Hello
I’m Vaaraki, a qualifying Registered Psychotherapist currently pursuing my Master’s in Counselling Psychology. With extensive experience in both inpatient and community mental health settings, I have had the privilege of supporting diverse populations, including transitional-aged youth, individuals facing homelessness, women experiencing domestic violence, and those living with HIV/AIDS.
My goal is to guide you on your wellness journey by utilizing my expertise in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, harm reduction, and case management. Together, we’ll navigate life’s challenges and uncover your inner strength—whether that involves healing from trauma, enhancing distress tolerance, building assertiveness, setting healthy boundaries, fostering personal growth, improving relationships, or anything else that’s important to you.
My Story
My career began with a focus on supporting individuals facing significant challenges, including homelessness, addiction, and severe mental health conditions. In various roles, such as crisis counseling, housing support, and transitional care planning, I developed a deep understanding of resilience and the complexities of recovery.
Currently, as a supervisor on an inpatient adult mental health unit, I oversee care for individuals navigating acute mental health crises. My practice integrates skills in psychosocial assessment and crisis intervention, while maintaining a trauma-informed approach to help clients transition toward sustainable stability and wellness.
With certifications in Mental Health First Aid and Crisis Prevention & Intervention, I’m committed to creating a safe and empowering space for clients to explore their challenges and achieve meaningful growth. As a first-generation Canadian woman of South Asian immigrant parents, I bring a unique perspective to my practice, understanding the impact of systemic barriers and the importance of resilience. My training allows me to provide tailored, strengths-based care, helping individuals navigate life’s complexities with confidence and resilience.
